Hats!

2011 has already brought two fresh FO’s. The charcoal coloured hat is for my friend Bryan and the purple and charcoal one is for someone else. I am currently knitting a 3rd hat, its for Lily. She doesn’t like the wool one I knit her before, because it makes her itchy so I dug out some acrylic and am making her one from it.

Michael has been home sick for two days. Hopefully he is feeling better soon. I’m keeping my fingers, toes and immune system crossed I don’t get it.

A Hat and A Test

Yesterday I downloaded the wordpress app for my Blackberry in hopes it will encourage me to blog more about my knitting. I have often been taking pictures of my knitting with the crappy little camera on my BB, so I thought it would be easier to blog this way.

I also have a new blog (have I mentioned this before?) and have been focusing my blogging creativity there. Now I can do both easily and on the go! http://samantharogers.wordpress.com is my new blog …

Finally a hat! Its for my friend Bryan. Today is his birthday and I promised him a hat. Its not done yet. Guess what I’m going to be doing for the next two hours … Ha ha. I have posted a picture from my blackberry but have no clue where it has put it in this post.

Happy New Year everyone!

I haven’t counted all my FOs from 2010, but there are quite a few. Mostly small ones … which comes as no surprise because I don’t tend to knit big things. Maybe 2011 will be the year I knit myself a sweater (and not just a shrug or bolero).

Wine Garb, ducky style. I made a snowman one too (complete with knitted sticking out carrot nose) but I can’t find a picture.

Catnip mice for my cats and my sister’s cats.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fun time ringing in the new year. :)

Time Flies

Boy does it ever! Hello? 2010? Where’d you go?

I have been knitting a few things for the holiday season for different people. Next year I plan on doing some knitting decorations for the house. The store bought stuff is lovely, but I want stuff my kids will give to their kids and grandkids and say “your (great) grandmother made those!” Speaking of holiday knitting. Here’s a great list of 50 Free Knitting and Crochet Patterns. :)

I don’t have any pictures to share. I have tonnes of stuff, but my camera is on the fritz and by the time I think about it it’s to dark for my Blackberry camera.

In other news – I have a new blog. It’s about everything, nothing … things that pop into my head. I don’t want to use this blog for that kind of chatter … it’s just different. Anyway, if you’re interested CLICK HERE and you can see it. :)

Really and truly, I have been knitting … here’s some of the evidence …

Two sets of Chilled Wine Garb … gifts for some lovely wine drinkers I know … One that is festive …

And a pair of socks. Well, I haven’t knit the entire pair yet, but I’m about 3/4 of the way finished the first sock. They’re for me. I’m too slow a sock knitter to knit them for other people. No pictures yet! Soon!!

Hello and Happy Halloween! It’s that time of year again when ghosts and goblins come out to play; when we all dress up and go trick-or-treating.

Usually I wear a pair of store bought devil horns and a matching tail and bow-tie (which reminds me, Laurie, I need my tie!!) …

This year I have created a masterpiece or two.

This is a great and fun little pattern. It only takes a couple hours per wig. Go on, make one, you know you want to.

It’s Been Awhile

Holy cow. I haven’t blogged in eons! I didn’t realise it had been so long. Whoops. And I haven’t even planned a long post for today. The reason being, I haven’t been knitting much. Just a couple of small things, and even then it’s not much. No FO’s to share, only half finished projects …

Like this one, for example … one of “Those Mitts“. I cast on for the 2nd one this morning. It should be done soon.

I’ve been busy. I can run 10km now. I’m pretty impressed with myself. My new goal is to do it in under an hour and ten minutes. My current time is an hour and sixteen minutes. I think I may die, but that’s okay.

Next on the docket for knitting are a few small projects, such as:

Cadence Pullover
Darkside Cowl
Zoom (for Ethan)
Iced
And a big boy bed blanket for Ethan. He’s getting a big boy bed for Yule.

FO’s …

I currently only have one WIP, and it’s not even a knit! It’s a crochet – my mom’s afghan. Why do I have no knit WIPs? Well, because I just finished the two I had on the needles.

First, baby Kaia’s blanket. It’s for Xmas, so she will have to wait. I used Bernat Satin on 5mm needles. The pattern is called Knit Garter Stripe Baby Blanket.

Next, I finally finished my Yogini Bolero. Yay! It fits well. I did the sleeves to the elbow. Longer than the cap sleeve for warmth and shorter than the long sleeves so they don’t get in my way. I used Cascade 220 (chocolate brown) on 5mm needles. I got gauge exactly. I know … I was shocked too …

I finished it just in time for fall, which is good because it’s getting chilly! I plan to make another one eventually … and take less time doing it. The pattern is well written and easy to follow, I was just lazy about picking up the millions of stitches around the body and for the waist band.

Another Boring Shrug

… but this time it’s for me! The pattern calls to cast on 53 stitches, but I found that was not enough boob coverage, so I cast on 65 stitches adding an additional six to each front sections. Voila.

Michael has no patience when taking a picture for me, so this was the one and only shot. Its not great, but it’ll do. LOL

Last Day of Summer

Today is Labour Day and the last day of summer holidays. Tomorrow Owen and Lily go back to school. I’m not looking forward to it. I like them home. Owen is entering grade four, Lily grade two. Yup, they’re getting old.

Here are two more of Lily’s shrugs. The red one is actually really really RED. I took the picture at dusk with my blackberry so the picture sucks.

Did I post this picture? It’s Dozer (obviously) and his Irish Setter cousin (aka my sister’s new pup) Daphne.

We went camping last weekend. It was fun. The kids got sun, mosquito bites, sticky from campfire marshmallows and tuckered out … it was perfect!

Dozer’s first time in the canoe. He’s a champ! The PFD is a Ruff Wear product I have the honour of gear testing. He likes it.

We worked on his off lead recalls a lot. He did great and he came a’runnin’ with gusto when I called him to me … My friend Laurie just happened to have her camera in her hands when he successfully completed this particular recall.

And here’s a picture of me knitting at camp. Since then the knit (another shrug) was (accidentally) frogged.
