Sleeve Island

Good morning!  As you might know, currently Michael and I are in the position of looking for a minivan … our budget isn’t huge so we’re looking at older vehicles (approximately 5-6-7 years old) … fine, easy peasy.  The problem?  Every van that we find on autotrader.ca that we like is at least an hour away from us.  The furthest, so far, is about an hour and a half.  While Michael is at school today, on his break he is going to pop over to some place to check out a Dodge Grand Caravan we found.  Dodge is our 2nd choice, (under Chevy/Pontiac) but if we find something that will be great we’re not going to turn away from it.  Why oh why can’t there be a perfect vehicle in our price range five minutes from our house?!  Such is life, I suppose … Wish us luck.

Last night while watching American Chopper (gotta love those Teutuls) I finished the first sleeve on the Seamless Yoked Baby Cardigan.  One sleeve left, and I’m finished, except for buttons, of course.  But close enough, I say!!  Hopefully today I will finish the 2nd sleeve and be off sleeve island.  Tomorrow or Thursday I will have a FO to show you.  :)  Yesterday I knit a baby bonnet for the Bun.  I wasn’t feeling up to knitting the sleeve yesterday during the day so I knit up a quick garter stitch bonnet.  The yarn I used was left over Red Heart Soft from a baby cardigan I knit for friends of ours in 2005.  I used my Fuzzy Brim Baby Bonnet pattern, but didn’t put the fuzzy on it.

Did I tell you that Michael and I won a prize on the weekend?  When we were at the Outdoor Adventure Show in Toronto, we went to see Kevin Callan and while we were there we won a tent/tarp/shelter thingy worth about $300. How? Well, at the beginning of the seminar Kevin was giving away free stuff (t-shirts, books, etc. and the tent/tarp/shelter thing as the grand prize) and he kept asking questions like “Have you ever canoed on ____ river?” or “Raise your hand if you’ve had raccoon trouble at camp,” and stuff like that … then he asked “Has anyone here ever had sex in a canoe?” and both dh’s and my hand shot up! Ha! Who knew having sex in a canoe would pay off so well?!  Incase you’re wondering, Kevin Callan is to Canoeing, like Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is to Knitting.  OH!  I almost forgot!!  While we were in listening to his seminar, I was knitting in public!  Yes indeed!  :)  I was knitting a Fuzzy Brim Baby Bonnet for my friend’s baby girl. :)

That’s all for today.  Happy Knitting!

  1. We are trying to find a new car too, it is darn near impossible. Good luck all around.
Sex in a canoe?? Might have to give that a try, course probably advisable to wait until I am a size that fits in the canoe.

  2. I love my Oldsmobile Silhouette. Very much like a Chevy, but I like the lines better and the overall spacing better. :) Plus it has kept me and the bunnies safe in both of my major accidents.

  3. That’s too dang funny about, not the sex in the canoe, but you both so blithely owning up to it AND winning something for it. Hee.

I love the baby bonnet. Congratulations for finishing that sleeve — I have only about 30 more rows before I’m off for the month.

  4. Congrats on the nice prize! All your little hats are so cute, too.

  5. The baby hats are sooooo cute!

And, I am most impressed at sex in a canoe! :D

  6. Greetings! I saw your name on the Knitty Bloggy Baby Bumbers page and thought I would stop in. I am also due in August with my first! I am tired of the cold weather, but not so anxious to be full term in the summer heat!

  7. I love those little hats.

Now the whole canoe/sex thing……I could tip a friggin’ canoe on a good day without sex. I am my own worst enemy…..I am scared of falling in and they are tippy and then I forget to stay low….yuck. Glad it won you a prize and I am dying at you guys raising your hands…..you were probably the talk of the show….”hey did you see that couple….you know, the lady was knitting…they did it in a canoe” LOL Cute!
