100 Things

All over Knit-Blogland, since the beginning of time, I have seen 100 Things lists, so I decided to write one for myself. I’m writing this on Thursday July 17, 2008 — my 30th birthday. It will be fun to reflect back in a few years and see how much more I can add. Without further ado, I give you 100 Things About Me.

1. My birthday is July 17, 1978.
2. I am very proudly Canadian.
3. I have three children, two sons, Owen and Ethan, and a daughter, Lily.
4. In 1998 I married my high school sweetheart, Michael.
5. I have been a stay-at-home-mom since December 2001.
6. I knit and crochet.
7. I sew … well, I try to anyway.
8. I love the outdoors. My favourite outdoor activities are canoeing and biking.
9. My pets include two cats, a dog and two budgies … though I’d really like a hermit crab.
10. In 2008 I started working for Outdoor Adventure Canada as Director of Advertising and Gear Tester/Reviewer.
11. I am Pagan.
12. I was raised Christian … it just doesn’t groove with my feelings on life.
13. I currently reside in Southern Ontario.
14. Laundry is my nemesis.
15. I don’t eat seafood.
16. My favourite fruit are peaches, strawberries and pineapple.
17. I am clumsy and have been known to trip on nothing.
18. I had my third child, my son Ethan, at home with a mid-wife; an experience that changed my life. :)
19. I love coffee and drink lots of it.
20. I hate cooking.
21. I have one sibling, an older sister, whom I love, but who drives me insane on occasion.
22. Thunderstorms excite me.
23. My favourite smells are rain and campfire.
24. I watch Star Wars (all six episodes) probably once a month …
25. I named my bike “Blue Thunder”. My kids call it “Mater” (as in Tamater, without the “ta”).
26. I can’t shoot frufru drinks, but I can do whiskey shooters.
27. Wine is my favourite alcoholic beverage.
28. Water is my favourite regular beverage.
29. When I yell at my kids I feel guilty about it.
30. My middle name is Lynn.
31. I have a super funky special trick to get rid of hiccups. It makes me look stupid, but it works every time.
32. I love the smell of new books.
33. I have a quick temper, but I don’t hold grudges.
34. I want to get a tattoo.
35. I am afraid to fly, but I would love to go to Egypt.
36. The only bugs I’m afraid of are bees and centipedes. Earwigs gross me out too.
37. I use Canadian spellings. Example: colour, realise, neighbour …
38. I think it is funny when Americans don’t know what a toque is.
39. The sound of people eating bothers me.
40. Contrary to popular belief my favourite colour is not purple. As a matter of fact I have no favourite colour … well I do, but it is subject to change at any given moment.
41. I am a picky eater.
42. I was born in Hamilton, Ontario at Henderson Hospital.
43. I have “a song” for each of my children.
44. I’m not a very good dancer, but I have been improving with age.
45. I don’t do karaoke.
46. I have been rock climbing.
47. My favourite Superhero is Superman.
48. I wear glasses, but I don’t need to wear them (legally) to drive.
49. My eyes are very light sensitive and if I don’t wear sunglasses outside I get a headache almost immediately.
50. My favourite family restaurant is Montana’s.
51. The number 51 creeps me out and is totally bad luck for me.
52. I tip a waiter/waitress based entirely on how well they treat my children.
53. I curse … a lot.
54. I am right handed.
55. I am afraid of heights.
56. My best friend is Valerie … we became friends when I beat her up on the school bus. I was in grade 8, she was in grade 7.
57. My new best buddy is Laurie.
58. I met Michael in 1993 when I was 14 years old.
59. I am still madly in love with Michael.
60. My children inspire me.
61. I have read The Stand by Stephen King seven times.
62. I am a comfort and stress eater.
63. I believe the glass is half full.
64. I am open minded and always try to see other people’s point of view.
65. I am always right. ;)
66. I could easily live without television.
67. My favourite flower is a lily.
68. I hate clutter.
69. I just lost my train of thought.
70. Loose teeth gross me out.
71. I often dream I’m being eaten by sharks.
72. My astrological sign is cancer.
73. It annoys me when people use bad grammar and as a result, I am paranoid I might be using bad grammar.
74. I try to not be hypocritical.
75. I have a Webkinz elephant named Grissom.
76. My favourite animals are cats (especially tigers) and elephants.
77. Growing up my mom called me Bunny.
78. I am 5′7″.
79. I drive a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan.
80. If I could have any car I’d get a BMW M4.
81. I like to play scrabble.
82. No one believes me but I am shy.
83. I am a very big Harry Potter fan.
84. I named my daughter after my favourite flower (see #67) and Harry Potter’s mum.
85. I don’t like walking across bridges.
86. My favourite dessert is pumpkin pie.
87. Death does not frighten me.
88. My biggest fears are house fires and my children getting ill.
89. I am deathly afraid of the dark, but I like it pitch black when I sleep.
90. I believe sleeping would make for a lovely hobby.
91. I’m not very spontaneous.
92. I have lost 40 pounds in the last year and would like to lose 20 more.
93. I’m a blonde girl, in ever sense of the word, and proud of it.
94. My favourite beer is Steam Whistle.
95. I use “…” a lot when I am writing.
96. I like writing letters … as in snail mail.
97. I love online shopping.
98. I am extremely directionally dysfunctional.
99. I am kick ass at Wii bowling.
100. I can honestly say that I am truly, madly and deeply happy with my life.
101. In 2009 I am hoping to study to become a Doula.
