100 Things

All over Knit-Blogland, since the beginning of time, I have seen 100 Things lists, so I decided to write one for myself. I’m writing this on 30th birthday, 2008. It will be fun to reflect back in a few years and see how much more I can add. Without further ado, I give you 100 Things About Me.

  1. I am very proudly Canadian.
  2. I have three children, two sons, Owen and Ethan, and a daughter, Lily.
  3. In 1998 I married my high school sweetheart, Michael.
  4. I have been a stay-at-home-mom since December 2001.
  5. I knit and crochet.
  6. I sew … well, I try to anyway.
  7. I love the outdoors. My favourite outdoor activities are canoeing and biking (and now running).
  8. My pets include two cats, a dog and two budgies … though I’d really like a hermit crab.
  9. In 2008 I started working for Outdoor Adventure Canada as Director of Advertising and Gear Tester/Reviewer.
  10. I am Pagan.
  11. I was raised Christian … it just doesn’t groove with my feelings on life.
  12. I currently reside in Southern Ontario.
  13. Laundry is my nemesis.
  14. I don’t eat seafood.
  15. My favourite fruit are peaches, strawberries and pineapple.
  16. I am clumsy and have been known to trip on nothing.
  17. I had my third child, my son Ethan, at home with a mid-wife; an experience that changed my life. :)
  18. I love coffee and drink lots of it.
  19. I hate cooking.
  20. I have one sibling, an older sister, whom I love, but who drives me insane on (many) occasion.
  21. Thunderstorms excite me.
  22. My favourite smells are rain and campfire.
  23. I watch Star Wars (all six episodes) probably once a month …
  24. I named my bike “Blue Thunder”. My kids call it “Mater” (as in Tamater, but without the “ta”).
  25. I can’t shoot frufru drinks, but I can do whiskey shooters.
  26. Wine is my favourite alcoholic beverage.
  27. Water is my favourite regular beverage.
  28. When I yell at my kids I feel guilty about it.
  29. My middle name is Lynn.
  30. I have a super funky special trick to get rid of hiccups. It makes me look stupid, but it works every time.
  31. I love the smell of new books.
  32. I have a quick temper, but I don’t hold grudges.
  33. I want to get a tattoo.  UPDATE: In February 2010 I got a tattoo of an Ankh.
  34. I am afraid to fly, but I would love to go to Egypt.
  35. The only bugs I’m afraid of are bees and centipedes. Earwigs gross me out too.
  36. I use Canadian spellings. Example: colour, realise, neighbour …
  37. I think it is funny when Americans don’t know what a toque is.
  38. The sound of people eating bothers me.
  39. Contrary to popular belief my favourite colour is not purple. As a matter of fact I have no favourite colour … well I do, but it is subject to change at any given moment.
  40. I am a picky eater.
  41. I was born in Hamilton, Ontario at Henderson Hospital.
  42. I have “a song” for each of my children.
  43. I’m not a very good dancer, but I have been improving with age.
  44. I don’t do karaoke.
  45. I have been rock climbing.
  46. My favourite Superhero is Superman; Ironman is a close second.
  47. I wear glasses, but I don’t need to wear them (legally) to drive.
  48. My eyes are very light sensitive and if I don’t wear sunglasses outside I get a headache almost immediately.
  49. My favourite family restaurant is Montana’s.
  50. I tip a waiter/waitress based entirely on how well they treat my children.
  51. The number 51 creeps me out and is totally bad luck for me.
  52. I curse … a lot.
  53. I am right handed.
  54. I am afraid of heights.
  55. My best friend is Valerie … we became friends when I beat her up on the school bus. I was in grade 8, she was in grade 7.
  56. My new best buddy is Laurie.
  57. I met Michael in 1993 when I was 14 years old.
  58. I am still madly in love with Michael.
  59. My children inspire me.
  60. I have read The Stand by Stephen King eight times.
  61. I am a comfort and stress eater.
  62. I believe the glass is half full.
  63. I am open minded and always try to see other people’s point of view.
  64. I am always right. ;)
  65. I could easily live without television.
  66. My favourite flower is a lily.
  67. I hate clutter.
  68. I just lost my train of thought.
  69. Loose teeth gross me out.
  70. I often dream I’m being eaten by sharks.
  71. My astrological sign is cancer.
  72. It annoys me when people use bad grammar and as a result, I am paranoid I might be using bad grammar.
  73. I try to not be hypocritical.
  74. I have a Webkinz elephant named Grissom.
  75. My favourite animals are dogs, cats (especially tigers) and elephants.
  76. Growing up my mom called me Bunny.
  77. I am 5’7″.
  78. I drive a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan.
  79. If I could have any car I’d get a BMW M4.
  80. I like to play scrabble.
  81. No one believes me but I am shy.
  82. I am a very big Harry Potter fan.
  83. I named my daughter after my favourite flower (see #67) and Harry Potter’s mum.
  84. I don’t like walking across bridges.
  85. My favourite dessert is pumpkin pie.
  86. Death does not frighten me.
  87. My biggest fears are house fires and my children getting ill.
  88. I am deathly afraid of the dark, but I like it pitch black when I sleep.
  89. I believe sleeping would make for a lovely hobby.
  90. I’m not very spontaneous.
  91. I have lost 52 pounds in the last year and a half and would like to lose 10 or so more.
  92. I’m a blonde girl, in ever sense of the word, and proud of it.
  93. My favourite beer is Steam Whistle.
  94. I use “…” a lot when I am writing.
  95. I like writing letters … as in snail mail.
  96. I love online shopping.
  97. I am extremely directionally dysfunctional.
  98. I am kick ass at Wii bowling.
  99. I can honestly say that I am truly, madly and deeply happy with my life.
  100. I have a yellow Labrador retriever named Dozer.
  101. In 2010 I took up running.  I love it.  I did my first 5km race in April 2010.
  102. In April 2010 I did my first cycling race — Paris (St. George) to Ancaster, 35km.

    I hate the sound of ppl eating too. In fact I am known to tell someone to learn to chew with their mouth closed. Especially if they are smooshed onto a train and chewing in my ear :-D

    I love your list. I’m 51 and it reminds me a lot of me at your age. It took me longer to get a tattoo. I just got it this past summer. I, too, love life and am extremely happy.
